About Us
St. James Community Baptist Church is located in Broadview, IL. It was founded in 1970 by it's current Pastor, Dr. Joesph John Richardson Sr.
Covenant
As we trust we have been brought by divine grace to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the influence of His Spirit to give ourselves up to Him, so we do most solemnly covenant with each other, that God enabling us,
WE WILL WALK TOGETHER IN BROTHERLY LOVE;
That we will exercise a Christian care and watchfulness over each other; and faithfully warn, rebuke and admonish one another as the case shall require; and in all things we will seek and guard the honor and the true function of the church;
That we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor omit the great duty of prayer, both for ourselves and for others; and for the enterprises of the Kingdom of God;
That we will share in each other's joys, and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy, to bear each other's burdens and sorrows;
That we will earnestly endeavor to bring up such as are, or may be under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord;
That we will seek divine aid to enable us to walk circumspectly and watchfully in the world, denying ungodliness and every worldly lust;
That we will endeavor by example and effort to win souls to Christ, and through his life, amidst evil report seek to live to the glory of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Articles Of Faith
FIRST: We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New testament were written by men divinely inspired and that they are the only infallible rule of Faith and Practice.
SECOND: That there is only one true and living God, revealed to us as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, the same in essence and equal in every divine perfection.
THIRD: That man was created holy, innocent, and happy, but by the disobedience of one many Sin entered into the world, and death by Sin, so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.
FOURTH: That the only way to salvation is by grace through faith in the atonement and righteousness of Jesus Christ.
FIFTH: That it is the duty of all men to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
SIXTH: That nothing can seperate true believers from the love of God, but they will be kept by His power through faith unto salvation.
SEVENTH: That Christain Baptism is administered only by the immersion of believers in water in the name of the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
EIGHTH: That there will be a general resurrection of the dead, and a general judgment when all mankind will be judged according to their deeds, that the wicked shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.
NINTH: That the Christian ministry is a divinely appointed means for the Gospel throughout the world, and that it is the duty of all Christains according to ability to contribute to its support.
